Hiking with Dogs

top tips

With a little preparation, hiking with your dog can be a fun activity for both of you. Those long walks give the two of you a chance to bond, explore the great outdoors, and get some much-needed mental and physical stimulation.

  • Make sure your dog is microchipped, and all your contact details are up to date.
  • Ensure you have a secure ID tag with your details.
  • Make sure your dog's vaccinations, flea and tick treatments are up to date.
  • Basic obedience training is a must! If your dog's collar or leash were to break you need to be able to control your dog with a stay command and good recall.

If there are off-leash areas where you are walking, only let your dog run free if you have a very reliable recall and always keep them in sight.

While our Fleece Lined Dog Raincoat will provide extra warmth in colder climates.

Consider your dog’s breed, age, and overall health before heading out on an adventure. Some dogs are natural athletes and can handle longer and more challenging trails, while others may be more suited for shorter, low-impact hikes.
